Precast concrete makers convert cement, aggregates and steel into piles, culverts, wall panels and ready-mixed concrete. They buy from cement and steel producers upstream and sell to building contractors, infrastructure projects and drainage works downstream. Because the products are heavy and costly to transport, markets tend to be regional.
